About Orinda, CA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Situated in Contra Costa County, Orinda is a medium-sized city with an estimated population of over 18,400 residents. Lying just east of Berkeley, it was ranked the 2nd friendliest town in the United States by Forbes and is home to several affluent suburban professionals that commute to Walnut Creek, Oakland and San Francisco.

The city of Orinda - which was originally located within four Mexican land grants - began as a quiet rural crossroad mainly known for summer cabins and ranching. Alice March Cameron named the land to honor Katherine Phillips - a popular poet of that time - who was also commonly referred to as ‘Matchless Orinda’.

During the 1880s, Theodore Wagner, the U.S. Surveyor General for California, built an estate and named it Orinda Park. By 1888, the Orinda Park post office was established, which was later renamed to Orinda in 1895. After the completion of the Caldecott Tunnel in 1937, the town’s popularity grew due to easier access to the west and was finally incorporated as a city in 1985.

As of today, the city of Orinda combines a semi-rural setting with a family oriented lifestyle and has a stable and well-managed municipal government.  Low crime and natural beauty coupled with quality schools and close proximity to major San Francisco Bay activities and locations, makes the city a great place to live, visit and work in.

Furthermore, four elementary schools and one middle school together comprise the Orinda Union School District, which serves the city. Miramonte High School, the city’s only high school, is a part of the Acalanes Union High School District. Renowned for their academic excellence, both the districts are highly ranked in the state of California and produces strong athletic teams. Several NFL players including Bryan Barker, Ken Dorsey and Drew Bennett as well as the Olympian Heather Petri hail from Orinda.

The city of Orinda receives 23 inches of rainfall and 0 inches of snowfall per year. With the average high in the summer months around 74 degrees, it’s important to have a reliable air conditioning system in place to lower the temperature in your home and keep you and your family comfortable. Moreover, since the mercury drops as low as 42 degrees in the winter months, it’s advised that you have a heat pump in place to heat up your home when needed.
