About Martinez, CA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

A small city situated in the East Bay of San Francisco Bay Area, Martinez is the county seat of Contra Costa County and has an estimated population of more than 35,800 residents. Lying on the south side of the Carquinez Strait, it is one of California’s earliest towns and directly faces the cities of Vallejo and Benicia.

In 1824, Ygnacio Martinez received a 17,000-acre Mexican land grant that first brought him to the Alhambra Valley. By 1849, it was a shipping boomtown and gold rush. Col. William M. Smith laid out the town in the same year and named it after Martinez. In 1850, Martinez became the county seat but it wasn’t until 1876 that it was incorporated as a city.

In 1858, the local newspaper began operation and the city got its first rail connections by 1877. Shell Oil Company established an oil refinery in 1915, which led to a building boom in the region. Golden Eagle Refinery, along with the Shell facilities, makes Martinez an important petroleum-processing center and port.

As of today, the city retains a strong sense of history but has an eye on the future, modernizing both its downtown and infrastructure. Featuring plenty of parks and a marina, the residents have access to a wide variety of recreational opportunities. The waterfront also offers hiking trails as well as excellent bocce ball, softball and baseball courts. Furthermore, the 10,000-square foot Skate Park gives the youth a safe space for their craft.

The Art Deco Martinez Library is placed on the National Register of Historic Places while the Martinez Library has been registered as a landmark for architectural considerations. The Martinez Unified School District encompasses one high school, one middle school, two independent study schools and four elementary schools. It covers and serves most of Martinez. Alhambra High School is the comprehensive high school of the district and the Mount Diablo Unified School District serves a part of Martinez.

The city receives 22 inches of rainfall and 0 inches of snowfall per year. With the average high during the summer season around 89 degrees, it’s crucial to have a good air conditioning system in place to maintain comfort in your home. Moreover, with the mercury dropping as low as 36 in the winter season, it’s highly recommended that you invest in a reliable heat pump to effectively heat your home.
