About Lafayette, CA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Situated in Contra Costa County, California, Lafayette is a city with an estimated population of more than 24,300 residents.  Named to honor a French hero of the American Revolutionary War, Marquis de La Fayette, the city today is known for its abundance of wealthy inhabitants and beautiful pastoral rolling hills.

American settlement in Lafayette began in 1846 with the arrival of Elam Brown. Most of what is today the city of Lafayette was given as a land grant to him in 1834. The settlement continued to grow at a steady pace after he purchased it in 1848, and much of this had to do with its close proximity to San Francisco.

In 1852, a school began in a one-room courthouse and Brown founded a mill in the following year. With the number of students increasing over the years, a new schoolhouse was established in 1893. The first post office opened its doors in 1857 and the community’s new name ‘Lafayette’ came along with it. During the early mid-1900s, Lafayette transformed into a commuter town from an agriculture village and was incorporated as a city in 1968.

As of today, Lafayette is one of the most affluent communities in the region and offers a quiet, relaxing rural atmosphere with big-city amenities to visitors and residents alike. This coupled with a wide variety of high-quality recreations, products as well as activities combines exclusively into one of the best conditions for living and owning a business.

The Lafayette Gallery exhibits the city’s passion for art and the Lafayette Library and Learning Center offers residents with over 110,000 books, magazines, music and movie choices. The Park Theater is an historical site in the city, which first opened in 1941 and ceased operations in 2005. Originally a movie theater, efforts have been made in recent times to reopen the theater for viewing.

Furthermore, public education in Lafayette is provided by Acalanes High School, Lafayette Elementary School, Stanley Middle School, Burton Valley Elementary, Springhill Elementary School as well as Happy Valley Elementary School. There are, however, a number of private institutions that also serve the students of the city.

The city receives 22 inches of rainfall and 0 inches of snowfall per year. With the average high in summers around 88 degrees, it’s crucial to have a reliable air conditioning system to keep your home cool. Moreover, since the mercury drops as low as 41 degrees in the winters, it’s recommended that you install a heat pump to maintain comfort in your home.
